Journal Mar 2007
Well, yesterday I had a major slip. A literal one. I was on my way back home from dropping Timmy off at his before-school program (same building as his after-school program), and I slipped in the rain. I was slightly rushing because it rained harder than when I entered, and one of the sections of concrete was rather slippery in the rain. I slipped, fell on my left side, and hit my head on the frame of the door in a chain-link fence.
A lady jogging with her dog toward the fence saw me fell and asked if I was alright. "I will be," I managed as I felt the bump on my head. It was bleeding.
A quick trip back home, a thorough shampoo of my hair and cleansing of the wound area, and direct pressure with a towel enabled me to call Maureen on the phone to come back home to drive me to the ER. I just caught her as she entered the freeway, so it took a few minutes, but we went to the hospital, and I successfully stopped the bleeding by the time the doctor actually saw me.
No stitches, just a cold compress and a continuation of my regular Motrin dose as I had been doing for the pain in my right wrist. Ironic that now that wrist has to do the work again while my left side is sore.
I stayed home the rest of yesterday and today. I got in a Rosary (for which I made a quick guide), and I caught up with some movies, specifically the feel-good movies on the AFI Top 100 list like Bonnie & Clyde and Goodfellas. Cheered me right up. No, not really. But I got some much needed rest and a lesson learned.

Last weekend was our first free weekend in a while. One free of parties, family outings, or (too much) illness. Except our SDG turn on Friday, of course. I was able to finish some chores (cleaning and organizing) and catch up on some movies (like The Gold Rush, one of the AFI's Top 100), and we got to try a new (for us) restaurant, Miami Grille.
I made some fixes to the photo gallery (missing information on page 16) and added some more pages (19-21).
I'm looking forward to some new releases, such as Erasure's Light at the End of the World and NIN's Year Zero (with an interesting concept and viral marketing campaign) and new albums by Hard-Fi (this year) and Franz Ferdinand (indefinite).

It's been a tough week for us dealing with problems at Maureen's work. Mistreatment by her supervisor forced her to move to another supervisor. This also forced us to go through some schedule changes. Timmy goes to the before-school program now, because for some reason, our school district has school starting at 9, and there aren't any supervising adults till about 8:50. Well, hopefully things work out with Maureen's new lab, or she can find a more flexible and/or closer place to work.
On a lighter note, I finally got some photo gallery updates done. It goes to page 18 and covers up to a month after Evelyn was born.

Notable is that Beverly Young (wife of Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-FL)) and Joyce Rumsfeld (wife of Rummy) were silenced after their criticism/concerns about the way our troops are being treated. Young was removed from the gallery at the same State of the Union speech (last year) where Cindy Sheehan was arrested for wearing a T-shirt with the number of troops lost so far. Young's T-shirt simply said "support the troops," which she actively does. Randi Rhodes theorizes that Young's criticism is the real reason she was removed from the gallery. -
